A Lonely Rock Filled The Whole Sky
李新建个展将于2017年4月22日下午四点在艺·凯旋艺术空间展出,此次展览邀请了朱彤先生担当策展人,展览精选了艺术家近四年创作的三十余幅绘画作品。
We are delighted to announce the opening of Li Xinjian's solo exhibition at Triumph Art Space on Apr 22. at 4:00pm. We invited Mr.Zhu Tong as curator. The Exihibition featured more than 30 paintings by artist nearly four years of creation.
人们对于外在世界的理解很难脱离线性的逻辑,历史的因果塑造了当下的今天并规划了明天的方向。对于艺术家创作的历程总是以习惯性的总体介绍,通过某种样式的鉴别在时间轴上进行切割,不同模块在看似合理的逻辑下完成其连续性的推演。抽象的思维遮蔽了某种感性的介质,人的发展激进的终止了神话思维的推演,某种想象力展开的可能性受时间所封存,艺术逐渐被外在的合理世界而吞噬消亡。
对于此,艺术家李新建的作品使我看到了一种所期待的方式。作品“圣山系列”的创作更像是一种仪式,其创作的过程不仅仅是一种语言表达的方式或者艺术家个体感情的投射。感性、技术、经验在转化的过程中以不同寻常的方式融合,艺术家对于所面对的对象的表达更像是一位谦卑的仆人,这种距离暗含了某种敬畏,对自然之物的点到为止。绘画在这里只是一个支点,作为整个过程的结果实际上也是某种开始。
圣山,千年磨损而矗立于此,它存在的力量穿透了时间的屏障,暗含了某种生命的高度,一种生命的伟大。我们不曾拥有一切,我们也不会拥有一切,轮回、苦难,不同时代的人们为生活而坚守奋斗,必死的结果没有覆盖对生命的热爱,一种内在的巨大力量撕碎了时间对人的束缚,生命燃烧的光芒照亮了虚无的黑暗。艺术正是一种生命的高度,是人存在的本质意义。

Human understanding of the external world struggles to break away from linear logic. Historical cause and effect mold the present moment and the direction of the future. An artist’s practice is generally confined within a habitual summary with specific stylistic identifiers carved along the axis of time and different modules, in this seemingly rational logic, completing its inferred continuity. Abstract thought veils a perceptual medium. Human development radically terminates the deductions of mythical thought. Certain imaginative possibilities have been sealed off by time, and art has gradually become all but extinct, consumed by the external rational world.
As in response to this reality, artist Li Xinjian’s work presents the viewer with a long awaited alternative means.Production of the “Holy Mountain” series has been more like a ceremony, not simply an exercise in linguistic expression or a projection of his personal emotions. In the process of transformation, his perceptions, technique, and experiences fuse in various common ways, with depth replacing familiarity. Li Xinjian becomes more like a humble servant in relating the objects with which he is confronted. His is a state of mindfulness, not ecstasy. His distance implies reverence for natural objects touched in passing. Painting, here, is simply a fulcrum, an end that in actuality signifies the beginning.
The existing power of the Holy Mountain, worn down over millennia, penetrates the barrier of time and implies the heights and grandeur of life. We have never possessed everything, reincarnation, suffering, different generation of people steadfastly struggling for life, yet the necessity of death does not obscure a passion for life. The will to live is not abstract, is not like the existence of a concept, but an immense force tearing apart time’s constraints on humanity. “Art is life’s highest mission, and life’s essential form is that of learning.” Life’s burning rays of light illuminate the darkness of the void. Art is one of life’s plateaus, the essential meaning of existence.
